Graduated from the Integral Yoga Institute, Yogaville Class of Winter 2012

The goal of Integral Yoga is to develop an easeful body, a peaceful mind, and a useful life.

Yoga is designed to bring together the mind, body and soul by using body movement and meditation. It is based on the yogic strategy that the mind and body are in fact “One”. I believe that if you practice yoga every day over a long period of time in earnest, it can help bring the body to reach a place of harmony and heal itself.

Research shows that yoga helps to maintain or control anxiety, arthritis, asthma, back pain, blood pressure, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic fatigue, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, headaches, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, and stress. Here are some of the additional health benefits of Yoga:

  • Improves concentration and creativity
  • Improves blood circulation
  • Boosts self-esteem
  • Improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina
  • Reduces stress and tension
  • a heart full of unconditional love and compassion
  • Brings peace and joy

Susan is also a certified RASA Restrorative Yoga Teacher:

Restorative yoga is the yoga of non-doing or un-doing. The practice focuses on effortlessness and ease, using well-placed blankets, bolsters, yoga straps, and chairs to safely support the body and breath into relaxation and ease. Rasa is a Sanskrit word that is defined as juice, flavor, or the essence of one’s heart before it receives impressions from experience. This practice awakens the deepest layer which is the body of bliss!

This 25-hour intensive has equiped me of all traditions with a comprehensive understanding of a restorative practice. I have the tools and knowledge to teach a primary series of 10 basic restorative poses to group and private classes with confidence.

In 2013 Susan became a certified Reiki practitioner. Reiki translated into English is "universal life-force energy." Reiki uses this universal life-force energy, rather than an individuals's personal energy, to bring healing to the whole person. It does this, in harmony with the natural intelligence of the mind and body, which work together to preserve and protect health and increase well-being.
